Why is it that I want to focus on what I don't have rather than what I have?

I have the love and acceptance of a lot of people, yet it is the handful that won't talk to me or give me the cold shoulder that I am focused on. I should just dust off my feet and move on. They don't want to know me, therefore I should not want to know them.

I have all that I need just for today. Why must I look beyond today and focus on the tomorrow that will never get here? Today should be enough.

My perpetual calendar says:

Slow your pace,
enjoy the beauty all around you,
take time to write the lessons
of nature upon your mind and heart.

That plays into what I was saying. I can hear the birds singing. I can see the scenes of nature unfolding outside my window. Its beauty far surpasses anything I might long for in other places yet there are times when I do not take the time to appreciate it.

I'll Stand by You

As sung by the Pretenders

Oh, why you look so sad?
Tears are in your eyes
Come on and come to me now
Don't be ashamed to cry
Let me see you through
'cause I've seen the dark side, too
When the night falls on you
You don't know what to do
Nothing you confess
Could make me love you less

I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you

So if you're mad, get mad
Don't hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
Hey, what you got to hide?
I get angry too
Well I'm a lot like you
When you're standing at the crossroads
And don't know which path to choose
Let me come along
'cause even if you're wrong

I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you

And when...
When the night falls on you, baby
You're feeling all alone
You won't be on your own

I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you

I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you

This was the song I heard on the way to work this morning. It was sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy for me today.
